MARICOLEN MALDEGEM:  LEADING INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The Maricolen Institute is a secondary school for general as well as  technical and professional education. The school is located in the centre of Maldegem, a community of more than 20 000 inhabitants, located between Brugge and Gent. Maricolen Maldegem is a school in a semi-rural environment. The school’s mission is: ‘Bring out the best in each other’. Number of students:  about 700. About 550 students are enrolled in general education; about 150 students are enrolled in vocational education (technical and professional). Number of staff: 90 (headmasters, coordinators, teachers, educational staff and administration). Maricolen Maldegem works together with two other schools in the region:  College Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ten-Doorn in Eeklo and Sint-Vincentius/Sint-Lutgardisinstituut in Zomergem. Since 2016 the school is a LEADING INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL.

March 17: Erasmus+ Modern teaching facilities in Tallinn (Estland)  

March 17: Students Exchange Programme with the Liceo Adria Ballatore from Mazara del Vallo (Sicily)  

May 17: School voor de toekomst (School for the Future). Project in Maldegem with the Zwincollege from Oostburg (The Netherlands) and the Courtmansschool from Maldegem (Belgium).  

2018-2019  Projects and Mobilities (26 students and 23 staff members) October 18: Erasmus+ Personal Leadership. Meeting in Maldegem and Zomergem (Belgium) with partners from Bresice (Slovenia), Athens (Greece), Mazara del Vallo (Sicily) and Riga (Latvia).  

November 18: Erasmus+ Multicultural learning in a semirural environment. Partner: Liceo and municipality of Mazara del Vallo  

November 18: Erasmus+ Personal Leadership. Training in Scheveningen (The Netherlands) with partners from Bresice (Slovenia), Athens (Greece), Mazara del Vallo (Sicily), Zomergem (Belgium) and Riga (Latvia).  

November 18: Erasmus+ Shared leadership in Dene Magna Glouchestershire (United Kingdom).  

December 18: Erasmus+ Lighthouse Schools. Meeting with Gymnasium Fürstenfeld, our partner in Austria.  

January 19: Erasmus+ Personal Leadership. School visit and jobshadowing in the Juglasschola in Riga (Latvia) with partners from Bresice (Slovenia), Athens (Greece), Mazara del Vallo (Sicily) and Zomergem (Belgium).  

January 19: Erasmus+ Empowering students through Peer Learning Strategies. Students exchange and training in Craiova (Rumania) with partners from Athens (Greece), Siauliai (Lithuania) and Istanbul (Turkey).  

March 19: Erasmus+ Empowering students through Peer Learning Strategies. Students exchange and training in Athens (Greece) with partners from  Athens (Greece), Siauliai (Lithuania) and Istanbul (Turkey).  

Erasmus students visiting Maricolen Maldegem On 21st March Maricolen Maldegem welcomed four Erasmus students who are studying in Ghent: Louison from France, Holly from Ireland, Lina and Katherina from Germany. During our language classes they told us about the many benefits of studying abroad and shared experiences, tips and tricks.

October 19: Erasmus+ Shared leadership in Dene Magna Glouchestershire (United Kingdom).

November 19: Erasmus+ Personal Leadership. Project Meeting in Bresice (Slovenia)  with partners from Mazara del Vallo (Sicily), Athens (Greece), Mazara del Vallo (Sicily), Zomergem (Belgium) and Riga (Latvia).

January 20:  Erasmus+ Multicultural learning in a semirural environment. Project Meeting with our partner: Liceo and municipality of Mazara del Vallo . 

 february 2020:  Final meeting in Mazara del Vallo (Sicily) of project Erasmus+ KA101 ‘multiculturality’.

February 20: Erasmus+How To Make STEAM Literacy A Reality For All Students. Students exchange and training in  Manchester (UK)  with partners from Manchester (UK), Finspang (Sweden), Lourinha (Portugal), Samsun (Turkey) and Daugavpils (Latvia).

March 20: Erasmus+ VET Internship for professional students in Amsterdam (Netherlands)

May 20: Erasmus+How To Make STEAM Literacy A Reality For All Students. Students exchange and training in  Finspang (Sweden) with partners from Manchester (UK), Lourinha (Portugal), Samsun (Turkey), Manchester (UK)  and Daugavpils (Latvia).

May 20: Students exchange and visit of our partner school Liceo Adria Ballatore (Italy).
